Story Time

In an effort to keep literacy and learning strong, especially among socioeconomically, disadvantaged children, the Avant-garde Books Team has created audio files for children's books. Listening is the first essential skill that humans use to learn. Babies cannot read, write, or speak, but by "hearing" rich vocabulary, they are later able to reproduce language structure and vocabulary in speaking and in writing. The infant brain is developing rapidly and it is critical that intellectual stimulation is nurtured. The truth is that children cannot produce what they have not heard and/or seen. Reading to them is one of the best ways to improve long-term academic and personal success. These files are FREE and available 24/7. #LiteracyMatters
